Types of Armwrestling Grips

• Cylindrical Grips: These grips have a constant diameter along their entire length. They are used for general grip, finger, and wrist strength training. The diameter of the grip affects the load: the smaller the diameter, the greater the load on the flexors of the hand and fingers.
• Tapered Grips: These grips taper from one end to the other. They allow you to change the grip and, accordingly, emphasize the load on different muscle groups of the forearm and hand during training.
• Eccentric Grips: These grips have a shifted center or uneven shape. They are specially designed to simulate different angles and positions of the hand during an armwrestling match, helping to develop specific pronation/supination strength.

The main tasks of using special grips are to simulate the real grip of the opponent's hand and to work on critical areas that cannot be loaded with a regular dumbbell or barbell.

Main purpose:

• Development of hand strength (Wrist Flexion): Most handles have an increased diameter (from 50 to 70 mm), which forces the fingers and wrist to work in an open state. This strengthens the ligaments and flexor muscles.
• Pronation and supination training: Eccentric handles (with a shifted center of gravity) allow you to purposefully load the muscles responsible for turning the forearm - this is a key movement for defense and attack in arm wrestling.
• Finger strengthening and "stretching": The shape of the handles (cones, cylinders) forces you to concentrate effort on specific fingers, which is important for fighting "on top" or in a "hook" position.
• Isolation of the working angle: They allow you to keep the load in exactly the position of the hand that occurs during a fight at the table, avoiding "dead spots"
